The first acupuncture session takes about 2 hours, which includes a comprehensive health assessment (including feeling your pulses and looking at your tongue) and your first acupuncture treatment. Please wear a tank top or an open neck shirt and loose pants that can be pulled up to the knees. It is best to eat a light meal 1-2 hours before your appointment.
During the treatment, you’ll lie on a warm, comfortable massage table. Your acupuncturist will insert the needles and you’ll be allowed to rest for 20 minutes, after which the needles are removed.
Acupuncture needles are very thin and about the size of a hair. We only use disposable, sterile, stainless steel needles. You’ll be surprised how painless acupuncture is. When the needle is inserted you might not feel anything or sometimes it feels a little like a mosquito bite. Most people feel relaxed and rejuvenated after a treatment.

Each follow-up session is 45-60 minutes. We usually recommend that most people come in once a week, but you may prefer twice a week if you’re experiencing a lot of discomfort. The number of treatments you need will depend on the condition we’re treating and your body’s pattern of imbalance. Some conditions can be treated in a few sessions, whereas others take several months. Combining acupuncture with herbal medicine will help you heal faster so you’ll need fewer treatments.

The first Cosmetic Acupuncture session takes about 2 hours and follow-up sessions are about 60 minutes. All 10 of your appointments will be scheduled at this appointment if they were not done at the consult, so please bring your calendar and any remaining forms that we sent with you to fill out. The 10 treatments will be done twice a week for 5 weeks. Your “before” photos will be taken at the first appointment so you can compare them to your results at the end of the 10 treatments.
The Cosmetic Acupuncture treatment is a full body treatment with specialized points on the face and/or neck. Please wear a tank top or open neck shirt and loose pants that can be pulled up to the knees. Please arrive with a clean face and no makeup or use the natural cleanser we have in the clinic bathroom when you arrive at the clinic.
After completing the initial 10 treatments we recommend a maintenance treatment once a month, but you may choose to do them more frequently if you want additional results. Although the results of the 10 treatment package last up to 5 years with monthly maintenance, we recommend getting the 10 treatment package once a year to keep you looking fabulous. Using our recommended skin care products will optimize your results.
The first Metabolic Acupuncture session takes about 2 hours and follow-up sessions are about 60 minutes. All 16 of your appointments will be scheduled at this first appointment if they were not done at the consult, so please bring your calendar and any remaining forms that we sent with you to fill out. The first 4 treatments to repair the metabolism are done once a week for 4 weeks and then the remaining 12 treatments will be done twice a week for 6 weeks. Your “before” photos will be taken at the first appointment so you can compare them to your results at the end of the 16 treatments.
The Metabolic Acupuncture treatment is a full body treatment with specialized points on the abdomen. Please wear a tank top or an open neck shirt and loose pants that can be pulled up to the knees.
After the initial 16 treatment package, we will customize a maintenance program for you based on how much support you need and what your continued weight loss goals are for the future.
Ear acupuncture treatments use a combination of points called the NADA Protocol. These treatments are done community style, which means you will be sitting on a chair in the interview room or the waiting room. Your acupuncturist will insert 5 needles into each ear and you’ll be allowed to rest for 45 minutes, after which the needles are removed. Since no interview process is needed, these treatments do not include any herbal recommendations. Please fill out page 1 of the Health History Forms above & bring them to your first appointment.
